Photoshop. You will also understand the importance of grouping your
layers. At the end of this tutorial you will be able to create artistic
logos using simple techniques in Photoshop.
-
Create a new document of dimensions 300 x 300 px with white background.
-
Select the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M)
and make a rectangle of width 50px and height 80px.
Create a new layer
. Press the "G" key to select the gradient tool
. Select linear gradient and set the presets as shown in the image.
Click and drag from left to right in the image window. TIP Hold down the Shift key to constrain to perfect horizontal line.
Press Ctrl + D. Goto Edit > Transform > Perspective. Hold one of the bottom points and drag inside towards the center.
Drag the cursor until you have a Cone. Press enter twice.
Click on the Add Layer Style button in the layers palette
.
In the layer style window select the Inner Shadow option. Set the
distance and size as 7 and 10px respectively and set the shadow angle to
-145.
Then select the Stroke option. Set the stroke color to #05540f,
size 1px and position centre. Click Ok and name the layer as Cone.
-
Next we will create Metal Spring encircling the Cone. First Press D
and then Press X to set the foreground color to White. Select the Pen
Tool
and create shape of a spiral ring as shown in the image.
Click on the Add Layer Style button in the layers palette
.
In the layer style window select the Bevel and Emboss option. Set the
style as Inner Bevel, Depth 301%, Direction down, size 8px and soften
1px. For shading set the Gloss contour to Ring (as shown in the image
below) and shadow mode to Linear burn.
Then select the Contour option under the Bevel and Emboss Style. Set the element to Rounded steps and range 100%.
Next select the Drop Shadow option and set the distance as 2px and size 3px. Click Ok. Name the layer as Spiral.
-
Right click on the spiral layer and select Duplicate Layer.
Press Ctrl + T and in the tools option set the width to 80% (adjust the width according to the size of your cone).
Position the spiral as shown in the image.
-
Repeat the step 4 three more times. Your image should look like this.
-
Select the Pen Tool
and create shape as shown in the image.
-
Click on the Create a new Group button in the layers palette to create a folder. Name it as one.
Move all the layers except the Background layer into the One Group.
It is always a good practice to group the similar layers. This increase
clarity and also avoids confusion when we a dealing with many layers.
-
Right click on the group you have created and select Duplicate Group.
Press Ctrl + T and in the tools option set the Reference point location to bottom centre and rotation angle to 60.
Press enter twice. Name the group as Two. As you can see it is
easier to work when we group the layers rather than working on
individual layer.
-
Repeat the step 8 to create 4 more groups and name them Three,
Four, Five and Six. Adjust your Reference point for each of the group so
that they point to the tip of the cone. Your image should look like.
-
Next we will create 3d effect to our image. Press Shift and select
all the six groups. Press Ctrl + T. Right click on the image in the
image window and select perspective, alternately goto Edit >
Transform > Perspective. Drag the top right corner slightly
downwards. Press enter.
Then rotate the image (around 15 degrees).
Select Cone layer of the Group five. Set the foreground color to # 064d10. Select the Pen Tool
and create an oval shape.
Click on the Add Layer Style button in the layers palette
. In the layer style window select the Stroke option. Set the stroke color to #000000, size 2px and position outside.
Then select the Drop Shadow option. Set the Distance and size to 5px.
Select Cone layer of the Group four. Set the foreground color to # 708a73. Select the Pen Tool
and create an oval shape.

-
The final image should look like the one below:
