Creating Tunnel Effect in Photoshop

 

Today I will show you how to create a tunnel vision effect using Photoshop CS5. This effect  basically utilizes duplication of layers repeatedly, free transform and applying a radial blur.The steps involved in this tutorial, can be applied to achieve different results, if you arewilling to experiment. Photoshop Tunnel Vision

Step 1 – Open Image and duplicate layer.
Open up your desired image in Photoshop
and right click on the background layer and choose duplicate layer.

Step 2 – Free Transform and scale.
Press Ctrl  T (Cmd T) to Free transform. (or Edit->Free Transform)
When using Free Transform if you hold down Shift it will maintain proportions
and if you hold down Alt it will scale from the center.
So, Hold down shift and alt clicking on the bottom Corner handle and scale the layer
to  around 80% looking at the control panel to do so. press Enter to commit changes.

Step 3 – Basically we Repeat steps 1 & 2 over and over.
Select the top layer and Right-click–>Duplicate Layer.
press Ctrl T and scale using Alt and Shift to scale to 80%.
you need to repeat this process until it looks like the center is
set back a ways. in my Photo, I repeated this process 9 times to achieve
this result so far:

Step 4 – Apply a radial blur to enhance the effect.
Lets go to  the Menu, Select >Select all ( or Ctrl A)
which gives you dancing ants around the whole image.
and go to Edit > Copy Merged. Then paste (Ctrl V)
Now go to Filter > Blur > Radial Blur.
Set your amount to around 52, your blur method to zoom, and Quality
to best as shown here below:

It looks a little too blurry right now, but we will fix that next.
Step – 5 Soften the blur effect.
Select the Eraser (press E)
and set your  Eraser brush to  a
big,soft, and round brush  like  the settings below:

Opacity 47%
Hardness 4%
Brush size = big
(Brush size depends on your image)

Start with the eraser on the top and center of your image, and erase
down to the bottom, then erase again from the bottom to the top.
This  will soften the blur and allows for more depth.
